Gardai hunt vandals who targeted site of 12th century Kilkenny monument

DAMAGE was caused to maintenance equipment at the site of a cherished national monument in county Kilkenny by trespassers.

The 12th century Kells Priory was undergoing general maintenance work by Office of Public Works (OPW) staff last week when the incident occurred.

When the workers arrived at the Priory last Thursday morning they noticed damage to their equipment and obvious signs of trespassing and contacted the gardai.

Anyone who may have noticed any unusual activity on the night of Wednesday, June 19, or who may know anything about the incident is urged to contact Thomastown Garda Station on (056) 775 4150.
