Gardai seize stash of guns in North county Kilkenny
A number of firearms were seized in north Kilkenny over the weekend when gardai discovered the guns were unlicenced.
Gardai were calling to Kilkenny residents known to them to be in possession of firearms, when they discovered the unlicenced guns. The firearms were seized immediately as the owner had not renewed the permit on the shotguns.
A local garda spokesperson said: “Please ensure that you renew your firearm certificate promptly if it is up for renewal.
“Each current holder of a firearm certificate should receive a Firearm Renewal Certificate in the post approximately three months prior to the expiry of their current certificate,” they said.
The gardaí say they will be calling to licence holders who have failed to renew their licences and are asking gun owners to contact their local Garda Station if they have any queries in relation to the licence renewal.
