Hair we go again! Met Éireann forecasts more heavy showers and 100km/h gales
KILKENNY and counties across the country will be battered by strong gales and heavy showers today as Storm Diana bears down on Ireland.
Met Éireann has issued a yellow alert for every county in the country. It means Kilkenny will face more gales of up to 100km/h and spells of heavy rainfall following yesterday’s torrential spells.
Our neighbours in Waterford, along with Cork and Kerry, will experience gusts of up to 130km/h up until 12pm, with coastlines also at risk of flooding.
Galway, Clare and Wexford have also been issued with an orange weather alert until 2pm today.
Met Éireann said: “Wednesday will be a very windy, blustery day, with strong to gale force winds, southerly veering southwest giving some severe gusts in places.
“Some heavy rain or showers at times too, especially across the north and west, with some spot flooding.
“Mild, top temperatures 13 to 15 C.
“Gales will abate somewhat, but further spells of heavy rain can be expected on Wednesday night – especially over eastern counties.”
Met Éireann said overall the weather will continue to be “very changeable and inclement” for the rest of the week.
