Burglary gang terrorise Kilkenny village

Gardai are warning homeowners in Kilkenny to be extra vigilant after a village was subjected to a spate of burglaries over the course of an evening, earlier this week.

The small village of Ballyfoyle, near Dunmore, was targetted by burglars on Wednesday in a very organised and planned operation.

A text was sent out to residents of Ballyfoyle from Dunmore Text Alert after numerous reports of break-ins or attempted break-ins, which caused consternation in the community.

The well-tooled and well-versed gang were disabling security deterrents on people’s properties in an effort to avoid detection.

In one incident, the gang managed to by-pass the external security of a property before triggering an alarm after forcing open a window.

Gardai are looking for anyone who may have seen anything suspicious or may have noticed vehicles acting unusually in the Ballyfoyle area on Wednesday evening, to contact Kilkenny Garda Station on 056 777 5000.
