Europe’s top film producers descend on Kilkenny for international film festival
An international film festival, with over 25 films and will see over 100 film producers descend on Kilkenny, begins this evening.
The eighth edition of the Subtitle Film Festival, Ireland’s only film festival of popular subtitled European films, begins with the Finnish film, “One Last Deal,” being shown in Cleere’s this evening.
The festival then culminates in awards night on Sunday called the Angela Awards, hosted by Pauline McLynn and the Camembert Quartet.
The Subtitle festival brings together a selection of European films that entices the viewers to see cinema in a whole new way. Most of the films at the 2019 festival have never been screened in Ireland before, many being Irish premieres.
This year’s festival will show 25 films ranging from dramas, thrillers and comedies from France, Germany, Denmark, Belgium, Finland, Spain, Ukraine, Sweden, Romania and Greece.
The films will be screened in the Watergate Theatre, Cleere’s, The Set Theatre and Billy Byrnes and the festival runs until this Sunday.
