It’s the little things in life – doll’s house sells for €48,000 at Kilkenny auction

A KILKENNY auction house was shocked when a doll’s house with a guide price of €3,000 – €4,000 was sold for 12 times that.
An 1810 Travelling Baby house fetching an eye-watering €48,000 at the auction in Fonsie Mealy’s auction house in Castlecomer yesterday afternoon.
The two-room mahogany doll’s house standing 44cm high and 26cm across came from a collection of three doll’s houses owned by Vivienne Green, the wife of famed author Graham Green.
Vivienne Green was a renowned author in her own right and became the worlds’ foremost expert on dolls’ houses. She died in 2003 aged 98.
