LATEST: 20 new cases of virus confirmed in Kilkenny as 13 further deaths confirmed

further 13 more people have died after contracting the coronavirus as 456 new cases of Covid-19 were confirmed this evening.

It brings the overall death told as a result of the virus to 2,099. There are now 73,948 confirmed cases of Covid-19 across the country, according to the latest daily briefing from the National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET).

The breakdown of the latest cases is as follow: 197 are in Dublin, 37 in Donegal, 33 in Limerick, 21 in Louth, 20 in Kilkenny with the remaining 148 cases spread across 21 other counties.

The Department of Health said today’s figures include some cases not reported earlier this week due to “a technical issue”.

Of the cases notified today, 219 are in men and 235 in women; 59% are in people under 45, while the average age is 39.
