Major jobs boost for Kilkenny as financial services firm doubles its workforce
THERE has been some hugely positive news on the jobs front for Kilkenny.
A locally based financial services firm, the Carne Group, has announced plans to more than double its workforce.
It will create 250 new jobs over the next three years as it expands its existing offices in Kilkenny and opens a new one in neighbouring Wexford.
Founded in 2004 by John Donohoe, Carne is the largest independent provider of services to fund management companies in Ireland. It currently employs over 220 people, but now plans to add a further 250 staff.
Fifty roles will be filled immediately at a new financial services centre in Wexford, with the other 200 to be added over the next three years in the new office and its existing facility in Kilkenny, where 50 staff are already employed.
The positions will be for highly skilled financial services and IT professionals across a wide range of disciplines.
These include risk management, compliance, IT development, IT architecture, data mining and cyber security.
The investment is supported by the Government through Enterprise Ireland, who have both welcomed the news.
