Kilkenny-based food giant Glanbia to defend US lawsuit over drink ingredients
Kilkenny-based food giant Glanbia has been caught up in an international legal row over the food ingredients the compnay allegedly sells to energy drink manufacturers.
US company Vitaworks has filed a lawsuit in the US state of Delaware claiming that Glanbia imports tonnes of the supplement taurine into the US from a Chinese producer. Vitaworks has accused the Chinese producer of ripping off its patent.
Last week Glanbia asked the US court for more time to file a response to Vitaworks’ claims.
The company has said it does not comment on legal proceedings. However, a spokesperson indicated to the Irish Times that it will “defend our position in relation to this”.
