Council approves plans for new primary school in Kilkenny

The new primary school planned for the Western Environs of Kilkenny city has been given the green light by the local authority.

An application by Cairn Home Properties to build a new 16 classroom school on the Castleinch Road, beside College Park in the Wetlands area of the city, has been approved.

Cairn Homes applied for planning permission to build the school, which is an integral part of Western Environs development, early last month.

With planning permission granted, the developer can go-ahead with their plans to construct a two-storey, 16 classroom primary school building, which will also contain two special needs classrooms.

The new school will have a total floor area of 2,741mt sq and will be built on a 1.78 hectare site in the Wetlands.

The school will also have an outdoor play facility, a new entrance from College Avenue, a set down area, parking for 26 cars and all associated landscaping.
