Kilkenny gardai seize €60,000 of cocaine in separate drug busts in city
GARDAI have seized up to €60,000 in separate cocaine busts in the city in less than a week.
Yesterday Kilkenny gardai seized €30,000 of cocaine during an intense day-long crackdown on organised criminals which involved up to 80 local and specialist gardai.
At least 12 people have been charged with criminal offences. Some are due to appear before court this morning.
Separately, members of the Kilkenny Drugs Unit seized another €30,000 worth of cocaine during a planned search of a house in the city-centre last Friday.
Some 400 grams of cocaine were seized in the raid.
A man in his late 20s was arrested and detained under Section 2 of the Drugs Trafficking Act.
He is due to appear before court shortly.
Meanwhile, gardai also uncovered €50,000 worth of cannabis after they raided a grow-house on the Kilkenny-Tipperary border as part of yesterday Operation Storm.
