Kilkenny ‘glamping’ site named one of Ireland’s ‘Coolest Campsites’
A CRITICALLY-acclaimed county Kilkenny ‘glamping’ site has been named in a new list of Ireland’s ‘Coolest Campsites’.
Legan Castle was singled out among the top 20 campsites in the country un a new guide published in the Irish Independent Weekend Magazine.
The guide particularly highlights Legan Castle’s food offering, and it’s mouth-watering breakfast creations that makes the Thomastown venue a far cry from the humble caravan and mobile home parks of our childhood.
It says: “Give the camp stove a break! What’s unique to Legan Castle, cosying around the remains of a 16th-century ruin near Thomastown, is its food story. Fresh gourmet breakfasts are a highlight, with guests treated to mouth-watering creations from poached eggs and avo’ to deliciously fresh waffles.
“As for the accommodation? As another inclusion on our Fab 50 for 2019, you can expect luxury, fairy-lit bell tents made all the prettier with a setting alongside pastures of Connemara ponies.”
The guide also says Legan Castle provides plenty of family-friendly activities to keep the kids entertained, particularly if the weather takes a turn.
It adds: “If you bring the kids, your host will be happy to teach them all about country living, from collecting kindling to gathering freshly laid eggs.”
