Kilkenny has third highest rate of Omicron cases in country: report

Kilkenny recorded one of the highest incidences of Omicron Covid-19 infections over the Christmas period.
It experienced the third highest rate of the Covid variant with 1,855.2 infections per 100,000 people.
Only Westmeath (3,056.2 per 100,000) and Clare (1,974 per 100,000) recorded higher rates of infection.
The confirmed cases which cover St Stephen’s Day to New Year’s Day reveal some of the extent to which infection ruined Christmas in different counties.
Kerry emerged as the county with the lowest incidence rate at 884.9 per 100,000, followed by Wexford, Waterford, Cavan, Cork, Wicklow and Kildare, according to a report in today’s Irish Independent.
