Kilkenny hospital gets green light for major new extension

Aut Even Hospital has been granted permission to build a significant extension at its campus on the outskirts of Kilkenny city.

Kilkenny County Council gave the company operating the private hospital the green light for a new single storey extension to the front of the existing hospital building on the Freshford Road.

The new extension will house a café, two MRI imaging rooms, as well as “associated support accommodation”.

In its planning application, the hospital owners said the works will also include “alterations to the rear (North) and Side (West) elevations” of the main building, along with the construction of “a single storey link corridor to the rear (North) of the existing hospital”.

The works will also require a “reconfiguration of existing carpark”, according to the application.
