Kilkenny legend to step away from Cats’ management team: report
Kilkenny hurling legend and five-time All-Ireland winner DJ Carey is set to leave the Cats management set-up, according to reports.
The nine-time All-Star joined Brian Cody’s backroom team at the end of the 2019 season following Kilkenny’s defeat by Tipperary in the All-Ireland final.
News of Carey’s decision to quit the management team, reported in the Irish Independent, comes just a week before the Kilkenny County Board is expected to confirm Brian Cody will remain at the helm for another season.
If confirmed, it will be Cody’s 23rd season in charge and will see him match the record of longest reign in intercounty management, held by former Meath football manager Sean Boylan.
