Kilkenny man due in court in Sydney in relation to assault which left man unconscious and with severed ear
A Kilkenny man is due to reappear in court in Sydney, Australia having been charged in relation to an alleged stabbing of a man which left him unconscious and with stab wounds to his head.
It is alleged that 23-year old Kilkenny man Patrick Earle stabbed victim and neighbour Oliver Solon (30) a number of times to the body and the head, leading to Mr Solon’s ear being severed.
Earle’s girlfriend, Katie Murtagh (26) from Dublin has also been charged in relation to the assault according to Nine News in Australia.
She has been charged with aiding an abetted the assault by allowing up to four men enter the apartment block on Young Street, Randwick, just before 9pm on Saturday night.
Nine News reports a fight broke out involving at least five people at that location and when police arrived, they found Mr Solon, barely conscious, lying in the hallway with stab wounds to his head and body.
Mr Solon was rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency surgery and remains in a serious condition.
Patrick Earle and girlfriend Katie Murtagh were found hiding in the apartment block and arrested at the scene.
Both appeared in Court in Sydney yesterday and both were refused bail. Mr Earle is set to re-appear in court later today.
It is reported police in Sydney are looking for another four men in relation to the assault.
