Kilkenny man to appear in court over school playground drugs bust

A KILKENNY man in his twenties is due to appear in court this afternoon in connection to the seizure of drugs in a school playground in the city.

A second male, believed to be a juvenile, was released without charge from Kilkenny Garda Station this morning. A file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The two males were arrested yesterday evening when gardai swooped in to intercept a drugs drop at a city school playground.

Gardai found cannabis with a street value of €12,000 during the operation.

The two males were detained at Kilkenny Garda Station shortly after 6.30pm yesterday evening, for questioning.

The man in his twenties has been charged under the misuse of drugs act for sale or supply and will appear before Kilkenny District Court this afternoon.
