Kilkenny primary school gets green light for new expansion plans
One of Kilkenny’s largest primary schools has been given the green light to expand.
Kilkenny County Council has approved the application by the Board of Management of Presentation Primary School on Parnell Street in the city for a new three-classroom extension.
The single-storey extension will consist of three new classrooms to be built onto the front of the school, a link corridor and the resurfacing of the schoolyard to the rear of the present building.
Presentation Primary School is located within the St Mary’s Architectural Conservation Area and the city walls run along the rear boundary of the site.
The rear portion of the proposed site falls within an area of Archaeological Potential in Kilkenny city.
The school currently caters for more than 440 boys and girls.
