73 people have died of Covid-19 in Kilkenny

A total of 73 people in Kilkenny have died of Covid-19 since the start of the pandemic.

New figures provided by the Central Statistics Office and published in the Irish Independent also confirm Kilkenny has one of the lowest rates of infection in the country.

Just six counties recorded lower incidence rates over the past year: Kerry (36.6), Sligo (38), Leitrim (43), Galway (46.8), Longford (51.4) and Tipperary (59.2).

 

Mayo recorded the highest incidence rate nationally, with 180 Covid related deaths over the past year, resulting in an incidence rate of 138.

Dublin recorded the highest number of deaths at 1663, followed by Cork (416), and Kildare (275).

Leitrim had the fewest deaths with just 14 recorded in the 12 months up to April 28. Longford recorded just 21 deaths, followed by Sligo with 23.
