Kilkenny school gets approval for major new extension
The local authority has approved plans to build four new classrooms at a county Kilkenny national school.
St Mary’s National School in Thomastown will get three new special education classrooms and one additional mainstream classroom as part of the expansion.
The school on Maudlin Street in the heart of the county Kilkenny town currently caters for more than 450 students in 15 existing classrooms.
Funding for the project was confirmed in June of this year under the Government’s Additional Accommodation Scheme for 2020.
