Kilkenny youths suspected of horror sex attacks on teen girls ‘still in Ireland’
BY COLIN BARTLEY
GARDAI believe the main suspects in the alleged sexual assault carried out on teenage girls at a county Wexford beach recently are still in the country.
Despite questioning a number of males, and carrying out a raid in Kilkenny last weekend, no arrests have been made in connections with the alleged triple sex attack, and the suspects remain at large.
It’s been reported the suspects went into hiding for their own safety, for fear of reprisals from members within their own community. Gardai now believe this may not be the case.
The alleged sexual assault on three teenage girls took place in Courtown, Co Wexford late on Sunday, July 28.
Gardai believe five young men were involved in the attack on the three girls.
All three girls are from Dublin, and it is suspected that one of the girls, a 14-year-old, was raped.
All three girls were brought to Dublin and examined in a specialist sex assault unit. The gardai focused their search for the suspects on Kilkenny.
Gardai interviewed a number of young males in both Waterford and Kilkenny in the days after the attack. They raided an address in county Kilkenny last weekend, but no arrests were made.
Gardai have urged anyone with information about the incident to contact Gorey Garda Station on 053 943 0690 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
