Large quantity of heroin and cocaine seized at Garda checkpoint in Kilkenny city

Gardai seized over €50,000 worth of cocaine and heroin at a checkpoint in Kilkenny city.

The drugs were discovered after a vehicle was searched at an Operation Fanacht checkpoint in the city on Tuesday.

Around €48,000 worth of heroin and €8,000 was seized by gardai.

Local gardai confirmed a male suspect was arrested, questioned and later charged in connection with “sale and supply of controlled drugs”.

He was due to appear before Carlow District Court this morning.

A local Garda source said the drugs “were destined for sale locally in the south east”.
