LATEST: 40 more die from virus, over 1,400 new cases confirmed
A further 1,453 more people have contracted the coronavirus, the e Department of Health confirmed this evening.
There are now 300 patients being treated in hospital with the virus, unchanged since yesterday.
Some 60 of these are in intensive care, down three on yesterday.
Meanwhile, 40 further deaths have been notified in the past week. There has now been a total of 5,249 Covid-related deaths recorded in the country to date.
