LATEST: Covid cases more than double amid Omicron surge
The number of Covid-19 cases has more than doubled in the past 24 hours.
The Department of Health today confirmed a further 7,333 more people have contracted the virus, a major increase on the 3,628 cases reported yesterday. It comes amid a predicted surge in infections as a result of the Omicron variant.
However, the number of patients being treated in hospital has dropped by 10 to 410, according to the latest figures. Of these, 107 are in ICU, a rise of two from yesterday.
