LATEST: Daily vaccinations more than double as 1,725 new cases of virus confirmed and hospitalisations rise
A further 1,725 more people have contracted the coronavirus, the Department of Health confirmed today.
And there are now 473 Covid patients being treated in hospital, a rise of 24 on yesterday’s figure.
Some 97 patients are in intensive care, up four from yesterday.
Meanwhile, the number of people registering for a Covid-19 vaccination has increased, according to HSE Chief Executive Paul Reid.
Mr Reid confirmed registrations have risen from around 1,000 a day to between 2,000-2,500 daily.
