LATEST: Good jab! 90% of population are now vaccinated
Nine out of 10 adults in Ireland have now been fully vaccinated.
The latest vaccination milestone comes as more than seven million Covid-19 doses are set to be administered by the end of today.
Taoiseach Micheál Martin said “two major milestones” in the country’s rollout have now been achieved.
The vaccine rollout is continuing in areas around the country this weekend, with children aged 12 and over eligible to avail of a vaccine.
Meanwhile, 1,620 new cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed by the Department of Health this evening.
Some 328 patients in hospital had tested positive for Covid-19 as of 8am this morning, down three from yesterday. 59 of these patients are being treated in intensive care units nationwide, a rise of five.
