LATEST: Kilkenny among 584 new cases of virus as 20 further deaths confirmed

A further 20 people have died after contracting the coronavirus as 584 new cases of Covid-19 were confirmed this evening.

The overall death toll as a result of the virus has now reached 4,651. There have now been 233,327 confirmed cases of Covid-19 across the country, according to the latest daily briefing from the National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET).

The breakdown of the latest cases is as follows: 222 are in Dublin, 44 in Kildare, 33 in Offaly, 31 in Meath, 29 in Westmeath with the remaining 225 cases are spread across 19 other counties. Five new cases of Covid-19 were recorded in Kilkenny.
