Love is in the air: Kilkenny baby boom on the cards as local store sees 25% rise in sales of pregnancy tests
Kilkenny looks set for a a baby boom later this year and early next year after a local store reported an increase of 25% in the sales of pregnancy test kits.
Yes, Dealz, which has an outlet in Kilkenny’s Market Cross Shopping Centre, may just have solved the mystery of how couples have been keeping themselves occupied during the lockdown following the surge in demand for the €1.50 kits.
The discount retailer, which has kept its stores open to sell essential items, has seen the rise of 25% since the first week of lockdown, with sales at Dealz Tallaght store surpassing the rest of the country – banana bread musn’t be the only bun in the oven!
“If you’ve been wondering how people have been spending their time in lockdown, we’ve found the answer,” Sharon Sheridan, Country Manager for Dealz Ireland said.
“Couples under the same roof don’t need to worry about social distancing and as our sales figures show, they’ve been getting up close and personal, finding more ways to relax other than watching Netflix or doing jigsaws.”
Dealz buyers have already started planning Christmas ranges, but at this rate baby clothes and teddy bears are likely to be top of the gift list, they say.
