Man (32) dies following accident on county Kilkenny road
A 32-year old man has died following an accident between a car and a motorbike in county Kilkenny overnight.
The incident happened at approximately 8.45pm last night on the N10 at Templemartin. The motorcyclist, a 32-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. The occupants of the car were taken to St Luke’s Hospital, Kilkenny, where their injuries are said to be non-life threatening injuries.
The local Coroner was notified and the deceased has since been removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Waterford where a post-mortem examination will be carried out.
A full examination of the crash site and vehicles involved will be carried out this morning by Garda Forensic Collison Investigators.
Because of the fatal accident, both the north bound and south bound exits on the M9 motorway at Junction 8 – Kilkenny at Templemartin are currently closed.
Kilkenny bound traffic should exit at Junction 7 Paulstown or Junction 9 Danesfort. The N10 is also closed at the roundabout on Hebron Road on the Ring Road in Kilkenny City. These measures are expected to remain in place for the coming hours.
