Man (32) in serious condition after machete attack at Waterford home
Two people were injured when a man brandishing a machete burst into a Waterford house and attacked them.
The incident occurred at St Herblain Park in Waterford city at 3am this morning.
A man (32) and a woman were in the house when another man knocked on the door. Once opened the caller, a male, burst into the house and attacked the man leaving him with a deep cut to both his upper thigh and on the kneecap of his left leg.
The man also suffered cuts to the thigh on his right leg, while the woman received a slight hand wound during the attack.
Two ambulances attended the scene and the man was brought to University Hospital Waterford, where his injures are said to be serious but not life-threatening.
The scene at St Herblain Park has been cordoned off to preserve pending a technical examination.
No arrests have been made at present. Gardai have urged anyone who witnessed the attack or who may have information about the incident, to contact them Waterford Garda Station on 051 305 300.
