Man (80s) dies following house fire in county Kilkenny town
One person has died and a second had to be rushed to hospital following a house fire in a county Kilkenny town overnight.
A man in his 80’s died in the fire which happened on the Main Street of Graiguenamnagh shortly after 11pm last night.
His body has now been removed to University Hospital Waterford where a post-mortem is due to take place later today.
A woman, (50s) who was also in the house at the time, was rushed to St Luke’s General Hospital but is said to be in a stable and non life-threatening condition.
The fire was put out by members of the Kilkenny County Fire Service shortly after 4am.
The scene remains closed off today awaiting a technical examination.
