Man four times over the limit caught driving truck erratically around Kilkenny

A man has been remanded to prison after being found at more than four times over the limit while driving an arctic truck around Kilkenny city.

Kilkenny Gardai members came across the erratically driven truck, while they were on High Street in the city as part of Operation Citysafe last Saturday evening.

The driver of the lorry was breathalysed on the spot and arrested at the scene on suspicion of drink driving/ dangerous driving.  The breathalyser test revealed he was four-and-a-half times over the permitted limit with a reading of 40 mg. The limit for a professional driver is 9mg.

The man was charged and appeared in Kilkenny District Court on Sunday. He has been remanded in custody to Cloverhill Prison to appear before the courts in the next week.
