Man in Kilkenny court after €460,000 drugs seizure on M9 motorway
A man has appeared in court charged in connection with the seizure of almost €500,000 worth of drugs after he was stopped on the M9 motorway near Kilkenny.
The suspect was arrested on Saturday after gardai discovered €460,000 of suspected cannabis when they stopped and searched his vehicle on the motorway in county Carlow.
Gardai today confirmed that, as part of an “ongoing investigation”, a follow up search was conducted at a residence in Bunclody, county Wexford which resulted in the seizure of €304,000 in cannabis and cocaine and the arrest of a man in his 30s.
This man remains in custody at Enniscorthy Garda Station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.
The man arrested in connection with the original seizure of suspected cannabis has been charged and appeared before Kilkenny District Court this evening in relation to the drugs finds.
