Plans for major new school development in Kilkenny city on ice after appeal

Plans to build a new 37-classroom school building in Kilkenny city have been appealed to the national planning authority.

The Board of Management of CBS Secondary School Kilkenny had sought planning permission to build a part 3-storey, part 2-storey building with a total floor area of 10,564 sqm.

Their plans also included new teaching spaces, offices, meeting rooms, a multi-use hall, library staff rooms.

However, the major school development has been put on hold after the decision by Kilkenny County Council to approve the plans was appealed to An Bord Pleanála, who will now be in charge of making the decision.
