Plans to transform empty commercial units in county Kilkenny into new apartments
A development originally built to house commercial units could now be used to create 23 new apartments under ambitious new plans submitted to the local authority.
Developers K&B Mulvaney Ltd have lodged an application with Kilkenny County Council seeking to develop 23 apartments in a vacant section of the Ross Abbey Neighbourhood Centre, in Rathculliheen, Ferrybank.
The developers have requested a “change of use of the existing first-floor area to residential use” to allow for the construction of 15 new apartments.
They have also sought permission to construct a new rooftop penthouse containing eight further apartments, aloing with “elevational modifications, and all associated site works”.
The decision on the proposed development is expected to be made in early February.
