Plans to transform landmark county Kilkenny pub into apartments
Plans to transform a former county Kilkenny pub into apartments and a new house have been lodged with the local authority.
Thomas and Mary Hughes have sought planning permission to build five one-bedroom apartments on the site of the Coach House, a protected structure, on the Mill Road in Thomastown.
They are also seeking permission to extend the existing two-story building to construct a new two-bedroom semi-detached house on the site.
In their application to Kilkenny County Council, they said the development will comprise the following: “(1) 5 no. 1 bedroom apartments (2) a new pedestrian access (3) Private open space for each apartment (4) communal amenity open space (5) a bin store enclosure (6) Bicycle parkinh [sic] (7) new boundary treatments (8) landscaping (9) connection to existing services and all associated site works.
It added: “The development will also comprise of retention permission, to retain indefinetly [sic] a partially complete two storey structure and permission to complete and extend the two storey structure to form a 2-bed semi-detached dwelling.”
The council is expected to decide on the plans by early next month.
