PLOUGHING SPECIAL: Kilkenny’s best side out for glorious first day at the Championship
DESPITE from some traffic issues on the first day of the ploughing championship in Fennagh, Co Carlow,
the crowds turned out in record numbers to soak up the sun and soak up the atmosphere. Organisers say over 100,000 visitors came to the championships on Day 1 and as the weather is set to remain glorious – crowds are set to remains at unseen before levels.
Due to its proximity to Kilkenny, people from the county made the short hop into neighbouring Carlow.
The guys from Kilkenny CBS arrived early and fully prepared for their day at the ploughing.
Many local buisnesses availed of the event to raise awareness and promote their products and services.
Beotanics from Stoneyford picked up an Enterprise Ireland award and were hand to show it off.
While more enjoyed the best of Kilkenny produce. Some kids from Jobstown in Tallaght, county Dublin popped into the Glanbia tent to avails of a few refreshments.
Some people from Kilkenny were there to work but couldn’t help enjoy the championship at the same time – but all were promoting Kilkenny. A few familiar faces from KCLR, Ballykeefe Distillery and the Butler Gallery joining in.
But let us not forget, people wouldn’t be at the event if it wasn’t for the practitioners of the art of ploughing – even with the majestic Clydesdales.
Oh who are we kidding? They were all there to see Love Island winner Greg O’Shea!
