Poor weather conditions hamper search for man reported to have entered River Nore earlier this week

A search for a man who it is reported to have entered the River Nore on Monday has resumed this morning.

Poor conditions following heavy snow and high winds hindered the search for the man, who is believed to have entered the river close to John’s Bridge in Kilkenny city at lunchtime on Monday.

This morning a drone was sent up to scan the area around John’s Bridge to aid with the search. Yesterday, despite the terrible condition the Kilkenny sub-aqua team recorded scans of the river bed in that area they will now examine and follow-up.

On Monday members of the gardai were assisted at the search site by the Coastguard Helicopter, the local fire services and local Civil Defence. Despite all those involved best efforts, no discovery has been made so far and the search continues.
