Romance fraud: Kilkenny victim conned out of ‘substantial amount’ of cash

A local person discovered love can hurt you in the pocket after they fell victim to an online ‘romance fraud’.

Kilkenny gardai issued a public warning to urge people to be aware of fraudsters who are playing with the heartstrings of innocent victims to con them out of cash.

A local Garda spokesperson confirmed: “Gardai locally are investigating a complaint of an online romance fraud wherein the injured party lost a substantial amount of money.

“We ask that you carry out all relevant research in relation to dating sites and people you have met online. ”
