Seven Kilkenny towns and villages share €400k pot aimed at enhancing area

Close to €400,000 has been earmarked for seven Kilkenny communities under the Towns and Villages Renewal Scheme.
The scheme aims to enhance Kilkenny’s towns and villages, to make them more attractive places in which to live and work.
Slieverue takes the lions share of the funding as it has been allocated €200,000 to develop a looped walk and a linear park with lighting in the village.
The Rower is set to receive €91,600 for public realm improvement and safety works.
Johnstown/Urlingford, Thomastown, Castlecomer, Goresbridge and Mullinavat will each receive €20,000 each to perform health checks on their towns and villages with a view to focusing on other projects into the future.
The funding comes as part of a €15 million package announced by Minister for Rural and Community Development, Michael Ring, which will benefit 156 rural towns and villages across the country.
