Louise Maher, the talented woman behind the Orchard Salon & Day Spa at Hotel Kilkenny, has taken her services online. She is offering online skin consultations and posting out essential skin products to her clients and new customers.

Louise studied beauty in 1998. She traveled the world and worked in many four and five-star hotel spas before bringing her skills and experience back home to the fabulous Hotel Kilkenny.

Louise qualified with a degree in nursing in London. That too was a valuable experience, but when she returned to Ireland in 2007 she struggled to get a permanent job in nursing, and fell into a job in Lyrath Spa & Conference center, she went on to manage the spa for six years.

This gave her the skills to take on the challenge of opening up on her own. Although it was challenging opening in 2013, while the recession was still rife in Ireland, she worked hard to make the spa a place where people from the locality and further afield can come and relax, and to enjoy top-end treatments with well-trained therapists for a top-quality service.

Louise enjoys all aspects of running a busy spa while still doing treatments with all her clients. What she loves to do the most is a deep tissue massage – she can find a tension knot from first sight. She also really enjoys the Image peels, and the results are better than anything she has ever worked with before.

Katie Fitzpatrick is Louise’s second in command, renowned for her love of nails, the endurance of her brow tint and ability to do Yonka facials all day long!

Rebecca has worked in the Orchard day spa for over three years. She loves semi-permanent lashes, nails and especially nail art. Maternity massage is also a real treat with Rebecca.

The Orchard day spa has three new lovely therapists, newly qualified but with bucket loads of enthusiasm. They are taking the current time out to do a whole series of live webinars in Yonka, Image, and skin conditions.

Louise said: “They are like sponges! Iif you want to test them when the spa re-opens, their names are Marta, Joanna, and Simona, and of course, the lovely Amy. Amy, who has been with the Orchard for five years on the desk, is cocooning away as she is in the late second stage of her pregnancy, unfortunately, we won’t see her back in the spa before they reopen. Maria is also working at reception, a local lady that loves the chat and to make clients feel welcome and relaxed.”
