Teen arrested after shots fired at house on Kilkenny border

A number of firearms have been seized and a man arrested following a shooting on the Kilkenny border last night.

At approximately 10.30pm yesterday Gardaí received reports of shots fired outside at a house in the Mullinahone area.

It’s understood a number of people were in the house at the time but no one was injured. Gardaí rushed to the scene and recovered a number of spent casings.

During a follow up operation involving local Gardaí and members of the Armed Support Unit, a man in his late teens was arrested a short time later.

Gardai also recovered a number of licenced firearms and ammunition.

The youth is currently being detained under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act, 1939 at Clonmel Garda Station.

Enquiries into the shooting are ongoing.
