Thief snatched mourner’s handbag as she tended to grave of loved-one

A BRAZEN thief jumped over the wall of a graveyard and snatched a mourner’s handbag as tended to flowers on the grave of a loved one.
The shocking theft occurred at St Mary’s Cemetery in Thomastown at around 4pm on Sunday.
Kilkenny gardai confirmed the opportunist thief struck after the woman temporarily left her handbag down on the grave. The bag contained a quantity of cash.
The incident follows a recent warning from gardai that car thieves are targeting vehicles parked outside cemeteries across the county and in neighbouring Carlow in recent weeks.
