Thief steals car in Kilkenny city-centre, collides with another vehicle, flees scene

GARDAI are hunting a car thief who stole a vehicle in Kilkenny city and then collided with another car on a nearby street before fleeing the scene.

The car was taken from the Walkin Street area of the city at around 8am on Saturday.

A short time later another vehicle in nearby New Street was damaged in a hit-and-run incident.

A local Garda spokesperson told KilkennyNow.ie: “Gardaí are investigating a hit-and-run in the city. A vehicle was taken without the owner’s permission and was then involved in a hit-and-run with another vehicle.”

The stolen car was later found back on Walkin Street, where it was originally taken from. It was subsequently removed for technical examination.

Kilkenny gardai are urging any potential witnesses who may have been in either area at the time to come forward and assist their investigation. Anyone who may have information is urged to contact Kilkenny Garda Station on 056 555 7000.
