Two killed in airplane crash tragedy in neighbouring county Wexford

TWO people have been killed in a light aircraft crash in neighbouring county Wexford.

The tragedy unfolded in the Gibletstown area of Duncormick earlier this evening.

Gardaí tonight confirmed two males are were killed in the crash, which occurred at around 5.45pm.

Initial reports suggest the small airplane exploded, either on impact with the ground or shortly beforehand, in a field close Kilmore Quay.

The light aircraft is believed to have taken off from an air field in the Taghmon area of Wexford, just minutes from the crash location.

Emergency services, including gardaí, fire brigade, and Coast Guard personnel rushed to the scene of the accident.

Reports tonight said wreckage from the plane has been spread over a wide area.
