Grave crime: Vandals cause damage to historic 17th century tomb in county Kilkenny
Gardai are investigating damage caused to a historic 17th century tomb in county Kilkenny.
The tomb at St Mary’s Church in Gowran was damaged sometime between September 1 last year and last Thursday. Gardai were alerted to the damage by workers who were readying the site for potential reopening later in the summer.
It is understood the lid of the tomb, which lies inside the mortuary chapel of the church, was damaged.
Anyone with information about the damage is asked to contact their local Garda station.
