Bogus tradesman targeting elderly Kilkenny people
Kilkenny residents, in particular the elderly, are being urged to ignore people calling door-to-door offering to do work on their property.
It follows reports of unsolicited tradespeople cold calling houses offering such services as tarmacing, roof powerwashing, and gutter cleaning and extorting money out of vulnerable residents.
A local Garda spokesperson said: “Gardai in Kilkenny and Carlow would once again like to highlight the Crime Prevention Advice that is ‘Not’ to engage with those who you do not know canvassing door to door for jobs.
“Services offered include power washing of roofs, walls, tarmac and gutters. In our experience, prices agreed upon are almost never adhered to, work is substandard and older clients are targeted,” the spokesperson added.
