Visitor to Kilkenny rushed to St Luke’s after he was brutally ‘glassed’ in random city-centre attack
A VISITOR to Kilkenny had to be rushed to St Luke’s General Hospital after he was brutally ‘glassed’ by a complete stranger for no apparent reason in the early hours of this morning.
The shocking incident occurred at 3.04am in Rose Inn Street, gardai confirmed to KilkennyNow.ie.
It is understood the 32-year-old victim, an Irish national who was visiting the city, was singled out for a random attack by a stranger who threw a glass at his face.
The glass shattered on impact, leaving the victim with injuries to his right jaw.
Gardai said the victim had no idea who his assailant was, other than the fact that he was male.
Emergency services arrived at the scene a short time later and the victim was taken to St Luke’s for treatment.
According to gardai, he was discharged from hospital “a number of hours later”.
Kilkenny gardai are currently trawling through CCTV footage from the area in a bid to identify the attacker.
