WARNING: Kilkenny gardai clamp down on imported cars from UK
By COLIN BARTLEY
KILKENNY motorists looking to import cars from the UK have been sent a warning from the gardai – get your paperwork in order.
This week, while on a routine patrol in Kilkenny, a local Garda unit became suspicious of a car brandishing UK licence plates.
The car, a silver Audi A4 estate, was stopped. While inspecting the car, gardai noted there was no certificate of road-worthiness belonging to the car (MOT).
On further inspection, it was discovered the car had been in Ireland more than the permissible time allowed without paying the vehicle registration tax on the car.
The car was impounded by gardai under Section 41 of the road traffic act.
