WATCH: Kilkenny teen set for superstardom as Disney releases trailer of new blockbuster
It’s all becoming very real for a 15-year-old Kilkenny boy who is just weeks away from global superstardom.
Kilkenny teenager Ferdia Shaw will explode onto the big screen as Artemis Fowl this summer.
Disney, the company behind the film, this morning released a two-minute trailer of the upcoming blockbuster and let’s just say it doesn’t disappoint.
To nab the part, Ferdia saw off the challenge of over 1,200 hopefuls to be cast as the eponymous hero in the big-screen adaptation of Eoin Colfer’s fantasy books.

Ferdia shares the screen with some of movies biggest names including Colin Farrell and Dame Judi Dench.
The teenager, who lives in Kilkenny city, makes his feature debut in the film, which is due in cinemas on May 29.
Ferdia comes from fine acting pedigree. His grandfather, Robert Shaw, is famous for his portrayal of Quint in the big-screen classic Jaws.
